U.S. bellicose forces' moves to block Korean independent reunification under fire

Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comments on the moves of the U.S. bellicose forces to block the independent reunification of the Korean nation. The commentary says:
The present warlike ruling forces of the U.S. are working hard to isolate and stifle the DPRK, loudmouthed about a "hard line" after suspending the dialogue with Pyongyang started by the previous administration.
They persist in a groundless smear campaign against the DPRK and do not bother to let loose a spate of war outcries against it.
This campaign is made under the pretext of protecting the U.S. and its allies from the "threat" of the DPRK. But lurking behind this row is the U.S. sinister intention to justify its military occupation of South Korea and its hostile policy towards the DPRK and bar the reunification of Korea and, furthermore, realise its ambition to seize the whole of Korea.
It is fear of the U.S. warmongers that if Korea is reunified, the U.S. will find no more justification to stay in South Korea and then it will not be able to realise its ambition to dominate Korea and the rest of Asia.
That is why they are working so hard to derail the Korean nation's train for independent reunification from its track and increase the tensions on the Korean peninsula under the above-said absurd pretext.
The reality calls upon all the Koreans to turn out in a patriotic struggle to frustrate the reckless offensive of the U.S. bellicose forces against the DPRK and reunification.

U.S. moves to deploy "TMD" blasted

Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- The U.S. navy recently announced that the "Theatre Missile Defence" system (TMD) would be deployed in 2006. A Brasshat of the U.S. navy, referring to its utmost efforts to hit the target, disclosed that the first phase of its deployment would be carried out in 2006 and its second phase in 2007 to be concluded in 2010.
In this regard Rodong Sinmun today in its signed commentary says: This is a dangerous move aimed to hold military supremacy in the east Asian region.
No sooner had the bush administration emerged than the conservative hard liners began more noisily clamouring about the "threat" from the DPRK in a bid to step up their moves to establish the TMD.
It is preposterous, indeed, for them to insist on stepping up the moves to build this system under the pretext of "threat" from the DPRK.
It is universally known that the DPRK is exposed to the U.S. threat.
Huge U.S. forces are stationed in South Korea and in areas around it and sophisticated war equipment including nuclear weapons deployed there are levelled at the DPRK.
Through the escalated moves to establish the TMD in east Asia the conservatives of the present U.S. administration seek to contain big countries and emerge a de facto ruler over the region and, at the same time, mount missile attacks on the progressive countries there.
The TMD is a product of their ambition to stifle the DPRK by force of arms.
If the present administration keeps increasing tensions on the Korean peninsula and rushing headlong towards military confrontation and war, pursuant to its hostile policy towards the DPRK, it will have no option but to strongly react to Washington's moves.
Then the United States will have to own responsibility for all the ensuing consequences.

U.S. high-handed practices will not work on DPRK

Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- It is the unshakable will of the Workers' Party of Korea to give fuller play to the dignity and honor of socialist Korea in the 21st century by firmly adhering to its independent stand as it emerged victorious in defending socialism in the 20th century through a resolute struggle against the imperialists, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on:
The WPK has never made even the slightest concession as regards the issues related to the basic interests of the country and the nation but firmly maintained its principled stand under any circumstances and decisively defied any outside pressure. this is its unshakable independent stand.
Maintaining this independent stand is an important requirement for firmly defending the sovereignty of the country, glorifying the dignity of the nation, living one's own way and achieving prosperity and progress by one's own efforts.
It is the aggressive disposition of the imperialists that they more blatantly challenge and pressurize any nation if they consider it to be faint-hearted and timid.
It is possible to protect the sovereignty of the country and the nation and glorify their dignity only when they adamantly stand against the imperialists without the slightest concession and retreat.
Today the U.S. imperialists are escalating pressure upon the DPRK and intensifying interference in its internal affairs and inciting a fever of war. Their high-handed and arbitrary practices can never work on the DPRK strong in its independent stand.
The workers' party and people of Korea will never tolerate any pressure and interference on the part of them intended to encroach upon its sovereignty but force them to pay a very high price.
