Japanese reactionaries' tampering with history

Pyongyang, December 26 (KCNA) -- The "Society to Make New History Textbook" made up of Japanese ultra right-wing elements published history textbooks describing "Japan's invasion of Asia as a liberation of it." In this regard a recent issue of the Japanese newspaper Akahata carried an article captioned "'Textbooks should not carry lies,' call of a historian and 60 educators."
Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary dismisses the Japanese reactionaries' move to tamper with history as a crime, adding that it is only too natural that their moves arouse apprehension and come in for criticism even in Japan, to say nothing of the international community.
Noting that the Japanese imperialists' Asian aggression was an undeniable hideous crime, the commentary says: Lurking behind such moves is their sinister intention not to redress its criminal past but to repeat it.
By teaching false history to the rising generation they seek to infuse the sense of "superiority of Yamado nation" and the awareness of war of aggression into them and drive them to overseas aggression.
The Japanese reactionaries should discard their black-hearted aim sought in tampering with the history and repent of its past crimes and honestly own their responsibility for them.

If the United States and the South Korean authorities truly want the reunification of Korea, they should immediately demolish the concrete wall at a time when the atmosphere of peaceful reunification is surging into high tide.
The Guinean Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification demanded the U.S. and the South Korean authorities not throw a wet blanket over the atmosphere of reunification but pull down the concrete wall in practice and behave in favour of Korea's reunification.
We extend firm solidarity to the just struggle of the Korean people to pull down the concrete wall.

County well known to nation

Pyongyang, December 26 (KCNA) -- The Taehongdan county integrated farm situated at the foot of Mt. Paektu towering on the northernmost tip of the country is well known to the nation for several reasons.
Once Taehongdan was known to be away from haunts of men.
In may Juche 28 (1939) the President Kim Il Sung, personally leading the main force of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, advanced into the Musan area and wiped out Japanese aggressors in Taehongdan. So, this place is known as an anti-Japanese battle-site.
The monument to the victory in the Musan area battles and revolutionary battle-sites and historic relics which are well preserved draw an endless stream of visitors from across the country.
The nation's first state-run farm made its appearance there as a result of the huge land reclamation project carried out during the hard fought Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950-july 1953).
The agricultural workers have turned their farm into a model despite unfavorable natural conditions in the alpine area.
The great leader Kim Jong Il visited the farm several times in the period of the "arduous march" when the country was hard pressed for everything. He instructed the farm to bring about a signal boost in potato cultivation and indicated a clear orientation and ways of turning the county into a socialist paradise.
The county built minor power stations on its own efforts to solve the acute shortage of electricity, thus setting an example for all other people to follow.
The head of the power station construction unit is among those six persons known to the country as heroes and heroines of the times.
Taehongdan county is exemplary in potato farming, too.
The county has a bright prospect of comprehensive mechanization as it has widely used trucks, tractors, potato planters, potato harvesters and other modern farm machines this year.
A modern pig farm and a potato starch factory were newly commissioned, one more example to other counties.
The county is proud of couples of discharged soldiers who volunteered to work there.
This March Kim Jong Il spared time to visit the family of a discharged soldier working on the Sodu branch farm. His wife asked the leader to name her baby expected a few months later.
Kim Jong Il proposed two names: Taehong for a son and Hongdan for a girl. He added that if they have a son and a daughter, their names will make Taehongdan.
In July last she gave birth to a girl named Hongdan.
Later, couples of discharged soldiers came to have hundreds of babies and vied with each other to name them Taehong and Hongdan.
Successive births of Taehong and Hongdan promise a brighter future of Taehongdan.

Federal formula, most reasonable way of Korea's reunification

Pyongyang, December 26 (KCNA) -- The proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo put forward by the President Kim Il Sung in a report to the 6th congress of the Worker's Party of Korea is not to reunify the two differing systems into one but to set up a unified federal state by the concerted efforts of the north and the south, leaving the systems as they are.
Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article stresses that the proposal for reunification by federal formula is the best way of reunification that helps reunify Korea most quickly and easily in conformity with the will and interests of the nation and specific conditions of the country.
It is, first of all, because the proposal is a Juche-oriented and unique one suitable to the specific reality of Korea, the article says, and goes on:
One of the difficult problems in reunifying Korea is the long existence of the different ideologies and systems in the north and the south and the intention of any side not to give them up.
If they are based on the homogeneity of our nation and national identity, the different ideologies and systems may exist together in a national state and the issue of national reunification may be easily solved by national harmony and unity.
The proposal for reunification by federal formula is the best way of national reunification because it is the most fair and aboveboard one.
The article explains that the proposal fully meets the requirements for the unified development and prosperity of the country and the nation.
The proposal is the best way of reunification that gives scientific solutions to all problems arising in founding a federal state including the method of foundation, principle of formation, function and authority, the name of the country and character, the article notes, and adds:
Both sides in the north-south joint declaration in June last declared all over the world that they would orient toward reunification by federal formula, keeping alive the common features of the proposal for lower-level federation raised by the north and the proposal for confederation put forth by the south.
All the Korean people in the north, south and abroad should be out as one in the nation-wide struggle to realise the proposal for reunification by federal formula reflecting the three principles of national reunification.

Japan urged to drop its wrong attitude towards its past crimes

Pyongyang, December 26 (KCNA) -- Japan can never improve its image in the international community as long as it Sticks to its wrong attitude towards the settlement of its past, swimming against the trend of the times, warns Minju Joson today in a signed commentary.
It is an unpardonable mockery and affront to the international community and human conscience that Japan adamantly refuses to own its state responsibility for its past crimes and tries to clinch the issue of liquidating its past crimes by paying a trifling amount of money, the commentary observes, and continues:
Japan is so shameless as to refuse to honestly admit any of its crimes, apologize and compensate for them even now when it is about to see out the 20th century in which it committed unprecedented crimes against humanity.
This wicked attitude of Japan toward the settlement of its past was prompted by its intention to repeat its crime-woven past. The international community will never pardon this attitude of Japan.
