Spokesman of DPRK FM flays Japanese chief executive's claim to Tok Islet

Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- A spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea today answered a question put by KCNA as regards the recent claim of the Japanese chief executive that Tok Islet belongs to Japan.
    He said:
It has been recently disclosed that Japanese Prime Minister Mori when asked about the stand of Japan on the issue of Tok Islet in an interview on Sept. 19, asserted that the islet is part of Japan's "territory." This is creating a great furore at home and abroad.
It is an established fact from a historical and international legal point of view that Tok Islet has been part of the inviolable territory of Korea from the olden times. No one can deny this.
We cannot but take a serious view of the fact that the Japanese chief executive unhesitatingly raised the claim to Tok Islet.
His assertion on Tok Islet fully proves that even today when the 20th century is nearing its end Japan is not abandoning its view on aggression of Korea and its militarist design for overseas expansion, that the Japanese authorities' loudmouthed "improved relations" with the DPRK is sheer hypocrisy and that their real intention is to take the road of reinvasion by repeating the crime-woven past.
History has already warned Japan that militarization and overseas aggression are a reckless adventure which precipitates its disgraceful ruin.
If Japan takes the road of overseas expansion again while resorting to the moves to turn Japan into a military giant, forgetting the lesson of history, it will not be able to escape fatal destruction as it is as foolish an act as jumping into fire with faggot on its back.
The Korean people are closely watching Japan's attempt at reinvasion and fully prepared to cope with any situation.
The Japanese authorities are well advised to stop acting rashly, facing up to the changed reality.

Anti-Chosun Ilbo campaign brisk in S. Korea

Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- A campaign of boycotting Chosun Ilbo, an anti-national, anti-reunification newspaper, is now being conducted in various ways by public circles of South Korea, a local newspaper Hangyore reported.
The campaign involves "receipt of citizens' testimonies on false and distorted reports of Chosun Ilbo after the Kwangju movement for democracy in 1980," "exhibition of distorted reports of Chosun Ilbo" and "publication of a collection of articles favoring Japan carried by Chosun Ilbo during the Japanese imperialists' occupation of Korea."
In South Korea this campaign is called a movement for having a correct understanding of Chosun Ilbo.
The brisk movement is being spearheaded by the citizens solidarity against Chosun Ilbo, which was formed in Seoul on September 20 with several public organizations.

Japanese PM denounced for his blast

Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- Members of different South Korean political parties and organizations including the Democratic Labour Party, the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the headquarters of the Koreans movement for regaining Tok Islet held an anti-Japanese meeting in Seoul on September 28 to denounce the Japanese Prime Minister for claiming that Tok Islet is part of the Japanese territory, a local newspaper Hangyore reported.
Its participants demanded "Prime Minister Mori withdraw his reckless remark and sincerely apologize to the Korean nation for it." And they urged "the government not to stay calm any longer but strongly protest the Japanese government."

Japanese chief executive's claim to Tok Islet denounced

Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- The Japanese Prime Minister when asked about "the stand of the Japanese government on the issue of Tok Islet" at a recent exclusive interview with a broadcasting corporation of South Korea, did not hesitate to assert it is Japan's "consistent stand" that "Tok Islet is an inalienable part of Japan's territory."
Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary vehemently denounces this as a wanton violation of the dignity and the sovereignty of the Korean nation and a reckless provocation.
Tok Islet is part of the inviolable territory of Korea and nobody can deny this from historical, geographical and international legal point of view, the commentary notes, and continues:
Our ancestors used the islet as a fishing center generation after generation since they discovered it before the year 500, according to historical data and documents. In the year 512 a national measure was taken to put the islet under jurisdiction of Uljin-hyon, Kangwon Province.
Tok Islet is also marked as part of the Korean territory in foreign maps.
The Japanese Prime Minister's outburst asserting the claim to Tok Islet is a very dangerous remark which should never go unnoticed.
In a nutshell, it again disclosed the sinister intention of the Japanese reactionaries to spark territorial dispute between Korea and Japan over Tok Islet and launch reinvasion of Korea under this pretext when an opportunity presents itself.
While calling for "dialogue" and "improved relations," Japan says that "it can not open diplomatic relations with the DPRK" pulling it up over the issue of "kidnapping" and "Tok Islet belongs to Japan." This double-dealing attitude of Japan only increases the DPRK's doubt about its true intention.
Japan should not play double-dealing tricks and eye for even an inch of land of the DPRK, urges the commentary.

WPK highly praised

Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- Diya Al Din Daud, general secretary of the Nasser Arab Democratic Party of Egypt, was interviewed by KCNA in correspondent Cairo on Sept. 24 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Worker's Party of Korea.
    He said:
The foundation of the WPK by President Kim Il Sung was a historic event which brought about an epoch-making turn in the socio-political life of the Korean people.
The Korean people have built a new people-centered country in Korea, a land where backwardness and poverty once prevailed, and repelled the aggression by the imperialist allied forces, honorably defending the dignity of the nation and sovereignty of the country.
It is entirely thanks to the wise leadership of the WPK that the DPRK, independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in national defence, has won one victory after another, meeting all sorts of challenges of history.
The WPK, which has grown stronger in the crucible of history, is now greeting golden days in its development as it has Kim Jong Il as its general secretary.
Korea's reunification and the cause of building a powerful nation are sure to be achieved under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
