Repatriation of Koreans in Japan marked

Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- Newspapers here today dedicate editorials to the 40th anniversary of the repatriation to the DPRK of Korean nationals in Japan.
They stressed that the successful return to the socialist homeland was the brilliant fruition of the President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il's Juche-oriented idea on the movement of overseas compatriots, their wise guidance and deep compatriotic love.
    Rodong Sinmun says:
The repatriation of Korean nationals in Japan was praised worldwide as "grand exodus of the nation from capitalism to socialism" and "historic event of humankind in the 20th century." It was a great victory of the immortal Juche idea fathered by President Kim Il Sung and his idea on the Juche-oriented movement of overseas compatriots and the result of the noble compatriotic step and humanitarian policy of the Worker's Party of Korea and the DPRK government.

Noting that those returnees have fully demonstrated their intense loyalty to the party and the leader, the fatherland and the people and their patriotic enthusiasm, the daily stresses:

Flag of Supreme Commander, banner of victory

Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- December 24 marks the 8th anniversary of the election of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Il as Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army.
On this day, the KPA servicemen are looking up to the flag of the Supreme Commander, their hearts swelling with the honor of holding him in high esteem at the head of the revolutionary armed forces.
The red flag of the Supreme Commander bears the Marshal's brilliant star.
He was awarded the title of the DPRK Marshal on April 20, Juche 81 (1992).
Since then, the only flag of the Supreme Commander in the world has fluttered in the van of the Korean revolutionary armed forces.
The flag is hoisted on the army day, during military parades and when he inspects KPA units and during their military drills.
The flag is an ever-victorious banner.
He has led the Korean People's Army and people to victory with his brilliant wisdom, outstanding strategy, iron will, unrivalled courage and distinguished leadership art.
When international reactionaries imposed "special inspection" and "sanctions" upon the DPRK over the "nuclear issue" early in Juche 82 (1993), the world was of the view that a military conflict on the Korean peninsula was unavoidable.
He, on the basis of a clairvoyant analysis of the situation, proclaimed a semi-war state to the whole country, all the people and the entire army to crop the enemy's feathers before hand.
A merciless punishment will be meted to those who encroach upon our sky, land and sea even 0.001 mm. This is an unwavering determination of Kim Jong Il and the will of the Korean people.
The situation remains tense on the Korean peninsula as it is beset with more acute issues than the gulf region and the Balkans. But, the enemies dare not invade the DPRK. This is because of his special qualities characterized by correct judgement, firm resolution and merciless strike.
He put forward the original idea that the army precisely means the people, the state and the party, and has energetically led the work to strengthen the army.
Over the last five years, he has inspected more than 430 units. He has covered at least 48,000 km to visit units of the three services and military academies at all levels. The KPA servicemen have demonstrated the spirit of annihilating the enemy, singing the song "We Will Emerge Victorious Flying Flag of Supreme Commander."
Only victory is in store for the DPRK flying the flag of the Supreme Commander.

KPA praised as invincible army

Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- Major general said Mohamad Sadaun, director of the general bureau of the Military Science of Egypt, was interviewed by the KCNA correspondent in Cairo on December 7 on the occasion of the 8th anniversary of the great leader Kim Jong Il's election as Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army.
He said that Kim Jong Il is not only a great politician but a Marshal possessed of outstanding qualification and traits as a brilliant commander.
    He went on:
The Korean People's Army is fully prepared ideologically and in military technique and has grown to be strong armed forces equipped with powerful means of attack and defence.
Under the army-first leadership of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Il, the KPA will successfully carry out its mission and duty as an invincible army firmly defending the security of the country and people and as the pillar of the country guaranteeing the prosperity of the powerful nation.

Removal of concrete wall demanded

Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The Madagascan Christian Democratic Union and the Trinidad and Tobago-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Association issued statements on Dec. 7 and 8 in support of the appeal sent by the DPRK government, political parties and organizations to their counterparts all over the world 20 years after the concrete wall was built in the area south of the Military Demarcation Line across the Korean peninsula.
The statements said that the concrete wall, which was built by the South Korean authorities under the patronage of the U.S., is a symbol of the national division and confrontation between the north and south and a cursed barrier quite contrary to the will of all the Korean people for reunification.
They urged the South Korean authorities to immediately pull down the concrete wall.

Prerequisite for detente and removal of war danger

Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The prerequisite for easing the tensions and removing the danger of war from the Korean peninsula at present is for the United States to give up its hostile policy toward the DPRK and sign a peace agreement with the DPRK, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
This is because the tensions and the danger of war are increasing in this region owing to the U.S. moves against the DPRK, the article notes, and goes on:
Detente has become a worldwide trend at large in the wake of the end of the Cold War but the tensions are growing on the Korean peninsula and a touch-and-go situation is prevailing there because of the U.S. moves against the DPRK.
The DPRK and the United States are in a state of cease-fire and the belligerent relations between them are going from bad to worse owing to the latter's policy and design to antagonize and invade the former and establish its unchallenged domination over the Korean peninsula.
The United States has unilaterally abrogated the Armistice Agreement and thus intentionally destroyed the institutional mechanism that had performed the function of restricting arms buildup, armed conflict and war on the Korean peninsula. Its ulterior aim is to exercise the right of military action, unhindered and unrestricted, to ignite another war in Korea.
The U.S. warmongers, talking about an "emergency" on the Korean peninsula these days, are strengthening the "quick reaction posture" of their forces in and around South Korea and hastening preparations to rapidly hurl their forces in the U.S. mainland into the Korean front. This indicates that outbreak of the second Korean war is imminent.
For the United States to abandon its persistent hostile policy toward the DPRK and conclude a peace accord with the DPRK is a prerequisite for defusing the tense situation prevailing on the Korean peninsula and preventing a war there.

It is daydream to expect peace from imperialists

Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- It is a daydream to expect peace from imperialists.
Rodong Sinmun today stresses this in a by-lined article captioned "as long as imperialism is left intact, aggression and war will remain."
    It goes on:
    Imperialists never want peace.
Aggression, war and plunder are the nature of imperialism and its mode of existence. Peace, therefore, is the noose around the imperialists. They, far from making a present of peace to the people, leave no stone unturned to wreck it.
Now international reactionaries and renegades of socialism cry for living on good terms and cooperating with them rather than fighting. Their allegation is meant to give in to imperialists and serve them as slaves.
The renegades of socialism cry for compromise with imperialism because they fail to see through the aggressive, predatory and crafty nature of imperialism.
Imperialism still remains unchanged. Only its method of aggression and plunder has changed.
The popular desire for living in peace can come true only in the world minus imperialism. It can be realised only when the people fight up against imperialism.
One of the important matters in the anti-imperialist struggle for the present is to foil the imperialists' regional strategy and divide-and-destroy-one-by-one strategy.
No matter how formidable they may be, they become powerless, when confronted with the people united in one mind. Only when the people adhere to the principled stand on imperialism anytime and anywhere and fight against it, can they realize desire for peace without fail.
