Lectures stressed that the three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity put forth by the President Kim Il Sung are the basic principles of Korea's reunification which were confirmed by the north and south of Korea before the whole nation and recognized by the world.
It was said at lectures that the South Korean authorities should observe the three principles of national reunification which they themselves pledged to the nation and that the United States, the very one responsible for the reunification and peace of Korea, should give positive response to the materialization of the principles.

The strike by the federation is the start of a second general strike declared by the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, said the radio.

Kim Il Sung, most people's leader

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Michael Perth, member of the c.c., the Communist Party of Australia, in an interview with a KCNA reporter upon concluding his Korea visit said that the great Kim Il Sung was the outstanding statesman and the most people's leader who has never been seen in the world history of politics.
He went on: During my visit to Korea I came to cherish deep in mind the feelings of deep reverence for Kim Il Sung. Under his leadership Korea, which suffered an eclipse on the world map, could put an end to the history of the nation's ordeals forced by the Japanese imperialists.
He loved the people most, always considering them as heaven and set up the best country of Juche in the world, the socialist system centering on the popular masses. All the popular policies in Korea could be pursued only by the respected Kim Il Sung who made it a maxim to believe in the people as in heaven and by the great leader Kim Jong Il. Kim Il Sung is highly praised by all people for devoting his whole life to the happiness of the people and global independence.
Inspecting the international friendship exhibition, I more deeply felt his greatness in my heart. As he performed great exploits for the era and humankind the mind of humankind following and revering him is so strong. The mind of the world people yearning after him will be invariable even after the lapse of long time and he will always live in the hearts of all people as the sun.

S. Korean students' anti-U.S. struggle

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries a commentary supporting students under the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) in their struggle against the United States and for independence.
Their recent anti-U.S., anti-war demonstrations in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul were an eruption of pent-up grudge and wrath of the South Korean people against the U.S. aggressors, the news analyst says, and goes on: Though 19 years have passed since the Kwangju Uprising, the truth behind the massacre has not yet been probed nor have its chief instigators been punished, entirely because of the United States.
It is the U.S. who placed murderers in power to maintain the colonial rule and egged watchdogs with the veil of "civilian" and "people" to reduce the people to slaves of the trusteeship and who are intimating the South Korean authorities to repeat the Kwangju bloodbath and take the road of confrontation and war against the north.
As long as the colonial fascist rule of the U.S. and the South Korean authorities continues, neither the probe into the truth behind the Kwangju massacre nor the punishment of its chief instigators can be expected in South Korea and the desire of the people for independence, democracy and reunification cannot be realized for ever.

U.S. annual report on terrorism

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- The U.S. State Department in an "annual report on terrorism" published some time ago branded the DPRK as a "sponsor state of terrorism."
Commenting on this fact, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says: Whenever an opportunity presented itself, the United States has tried to list the DPRK as a "terrorist state." Worse still, it is joining in Japan's attempt to brand the DPRK as "terrorist."
For example, at the U.S.-Japan summit meeting and a joint press conference held some time ago, the U.S. President voiced support for the issue of "suspected abduction" invented by the Japanese reactionaries. The U.S.-led NATO forces are now making indiscriminate air raids on Yugoslavia for the mere reason that Belgrade refuses to accept brigandish demands.
While unhesitatingly committing military terrorist acts against a sovereign state, the U.S. is trying to list the DPRK as a "sponsor state of terrorism." this is a brigandish and dastardly misbehaviour. The United States is a hotbed, organizer, executor and sponsor of terrorism.
This notwithstanding, the U.S. is impudently hurling mud at other nations over terrorism. Its refusal to exclude the DPRK from the "list of terrorist states" reveals its intention to intensify its hostile policy toward the DPRK.
Motivated by an ulterior intention to commit a new state terrorism against the DPRK, the U.S. has staged joint military exercises together with Japan and South Korea, reinforcing its armed forces in and around South Korea. Falsity is always exposed by truth. The United States had better mind its own business.

Occasion of friendship

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Papers today dedicate articles to the 10th anniversary of the Korea visit of Seyed Ali Khamenei, leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, on May 14, 1989.
Rodong Sinmun says: His visit to Korea was a demonstration of friendship and solidarity between the peoples of Korea and Iran who are supporting and cooperating with each other in the building of an independent new society and marked a good occasion in opening a new chapter in the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
The Iranian people's victory in the historic Islamic Revolution (February 11, 1979) was a fruition of their protracted struggle and efforts for independence and prosperity against domination and subjugation and an epochal event which opened a broad avenue for them to build an independent new society.
After the victory of the revolution the Iranian people have dynamically advanced along the road chosen by themselves, pulling through manifold difficulties and ordeals.
The bonds of friendship and cooperative relations forged between Korea and Iran in the struggle against imperialism and for independence are developing day by day. The Korean people will as ever extend firm support and solidarity to the Iranian people in their just struggle to defend the gains of the Islamic revolution despite the imperialists' political and economic isolation and economic blockade.
Minju Joson says the Korea visit of Seyed Ali Khamenei marked an important occasion in deepening understanding and trust between the two countries and between the two peoples, developing the friendly and cooperative relations onto a higher stage, promoting friendship and solidarity among Asian countries and strengthening the non-aligned movement.

National independence is basis of great national unity

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in an article stresses that the principle of national independence is the hardcore of solving the issue of the nation and the basis of the great unity of the whole nation.
General Secretary Kim Jong Il in the five-point policy of great national unity said that the great unity of the nation should be based on the principle of national independence, the paper says, and goes on: The unity of the nation is for the independence of the nation.
The Korean nation's struggle for great national unity is a struggle to establish the sovereignty of the nation throughout the country, to realise the reunification of the country with the internal force of the nation and to achieve the independent development of a reunified country and the coprosperity of the nation.
Anyone who really wants the unity and reunification of the nation should take the road of national independence, not the road of dependence on foreign forces. National unity is one for defending and realising the independence of the nation.
The great unity of the whole nation on the principle of national independence makes it possible for the Korean nation to become the true master of its destiny and the great driving force and decisive force of national reunification and prosperity. The entire nation should reject flunkeyism and dependence on foreign forces and achieve great unity on the principle of national independence.
