Big efforts made to stir up anti-U.S. feeling

Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- Korea attaches importance to imbuing working people, school youth and children with hatred for the U.S. at a time when they are nowadays intensifying a campaign to stifle the DPRK as never before. A class education exhibition hall has been arranged at the People's Palace of Culture in the heart of the capital city of Pyongyang. It shows the U.S.'s history of aggression on Korea spanning more than one hundred years and their atrocities. The visitors renew their resolution to take revenge upon the Yankees or make an entry in the visitor's book.
The Sinchon Museum proves its worth in U.S., class education. The Yankees temporarily occupied Sinchon during the last Korean War (June 1950-July 1953) and massacred people in cold blood. The atrocities committed by the Hitler fascists at the O'swiecim concentration camp pale before the monstrous massacre. In a matter of 52 days of their occupation of Sinchon county U.S. aggressors killed more than 35,000 innocent people, or a quarter of the population, in the most brutal way.
Last year General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the refurbished museum, where he said the place was very instrumental in arousing U.S., class awareness of the people and indicated tasks to make an effective use of the place for education. The place is visited by a growing number of working people of various social standings, servicepersons and school youth and children. The visitors make rounds of the exhibits on GI's murders, vowing to take a thousand-fold revenge upon them.
The U.S. is the sworn enemy of the Korean people and the Korean people will have a make-or-break battle with them any time. This idea is stressed in messages from propaganda and agitation means and the education network. Mass media systematically deal with data on anti-U.S. education. Anti-U.S. education remains a topic at oratorical contest, poem recital and story-telling meeting of working people's organizations, People's Army units, industrial establishments, schools and cooperative farms.

DPRK proposal supported

Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- General secretary of the Communist Party of Ireland (Marxist-Leninist) Rod Eley who had visited the DPRK released a statement in the name of his party's central committee in support of a proposal put forward at the joint meeting of the DPRK government, political parties and organizations. The statement says:   The party considers letters to the South Korean authorities and political parties, organizations and public figures at home and abroad sent by the joint meeting to be a most impartial and significant measure to remove the danger of a war from the Korean peninsula and promote national reconciliation and reunification.
The U.S. is consecutively cooking up shocking incidents against the DPRK on the peninsula, a place of most acute showdown between socialism and capitalism, thus bringing dark clouds of a nuclear war to the world, to say nothing of the Korean peninsula. It is a shame on humankind that there still exists in South Korea the notorious "National Security Law" (NSL) which does not allow even phone calls and correspondence between kinsmen in the north and south, to say nothing of contacts.
The South Korean authorities are left with no pretext to refuse to accept this proposal. They should give up military exercises with outsiders and the "international cooperation system" designed to stifle the DPRK, dialogue partner, rescind the "NSL" in South Korea and ensure complete freedom of political activities to all patriotic-minded and democratic pro-reunification figures.

Military action will lead to destruction

Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- Japanese reactionaries are getting more frantic in their anti-DPRK campaign. The Japanese Defense Agency decided a "new policy to cope with the DPRK's launch of another ballistic missile." The policy defined forms of mobilization of Japan "Self-Defense Forces" -- dispatch to "stricken area," "mobilization for security" and "mobilization for national defense" -- when required by the situation to be created after the sign of missile launch is confirmed.
Recently Japanese Prime Minister Obuchi called for rewriting the "law on emergency" under the pretext of "threats" from the DPRK and director-general of the Japanese Defense Agency Norota hinted Japan's bellicose intention to make a forestalling attack to prevent the "DPRK's launch of another ballistic missile." All these are dangerous developments.
They are just like declaring Japan would make military actions against the DPRK under the pretext of "refiring of ballistic missile." The Japanese reactionaries are these days busy spreading a rumor that the DPRK might "launch another ballistic missile." underlying this is their ulterior political purpose to establish the "Theatre Missile Defense system," the product of the U.S. war moves against the DPRK, at an early date and realize their ambition to stage a comeback to the Korean peninsula with spurs put on military buildup and modernization of Japan "Self-Defense Forces."
For this purpose, Japan is investing a colossal amount of money in developing spy satellites, introducing refueling planes and rounding up the "Theatre Missile Defense system". But they are a foolish ambition. If they finally take the road of reinvasion, bereft of reason, they will not escape an annihilating blow.

Transport headquarters set up in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities set up a new transport headquarters of the "ROK" army on March 2, according to a radio report from Seoul. They are asserting that the headquarters is aimed "at making a defense reform" for the purpose of "maximizing the capability of joint war transport support" under a "wartime plan."
Its mission is to "organize and support joint transport" of the South Korean Army and the U.S. troops in wartime. It will reportedly operate as a combined unit involving the three services of South Korea. This proves that the South Korean authorities are getting frantic in their moves to unleash a war against the north. It was reported that a new air force operation headquarters would be set up in April.

Plan for cultural exchange signed

Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- A 1999-2000 plan for cultural exchange between the DPRK and Chinese governments was signed in Beijing on February 27. S. Korean authorities' anti-north war exercise condemned

Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities on Tuesday started a "mobilization drill" for 3 nights and 4 days involving several million-strong "reserve forces." They have threatened that for "improvement of the reserve forces training system" a penalty for "an evader of training" will be increased to 2 million won from the previous 300,000 and an "absentee without due notice" will be punished by "martial law."
Commenting on it, Rodong Sinmun today says:   This hysteric "drill of reserve forces" is intended for preparing war cannon fodder and clearly shows how frantically the South Korean rulers are running for war. It is an intolerable challenge and provocation to the DPRK, which is making every sincere effort for peace and the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
The South Korean authorities are calling for "reconciliation" and "peace" while staging anti-north war exercises going against the people's desire for peace and reunification." such preposterous call is like a criminal deed of mocking at the nation's desire for reunification. Their reckless anti-north confrontation and war moves will only bring about their own destruction. The authorities should act with discretion, cooling their heads heated with in anti-north war fever.

Korea will be reunified

Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- First vice-chairman of the Socialist Party of Romania Amusa Stefan on a visit to the DPRK as its representative on the occasion of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's birthday had an interview with KCNA. Saying that Pyongyang, which had been reduced to ashes by the war, has changed into a modern city, he noted all the successes made by the Korean people were the result of the wise leadership given to the Korean people by the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, standing in the van of the Workers' Party of Korea.
He expressed the conviction that although the Korean people are temporarily suffering from obstacles and difficulties, they will certainly emerge victors in overcoming them as they have the great leader and inexhaustible potentials. The division of Korea imposed by foreign forces must no longer continue, he said, adding it is the disgrace to the world. Korea will certainly be reunified in the near future as long as there are Kim Jong Il, the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Korean people united in one mind.

The declaration said the desire of the anti-Japanese uprising for independence and sovereignty 80 years ago has not yet been realized in South Korea.
Calls for national sovereignty and independence are growing louder among people in South Korea, it said, and went on:   Anti-U.S. and anti-Japan is patriotism, and pro-U.S. and pro-Japan is treachery. Let us all the South Korean people, who love the country and the nation and want to live as an independent people, rise up in a nationwide resistance against the outside forces. One must not confront fellow countrymen in league with outsiders but defend the nation from their aggression hand in hand with fellow countrymen.
Let us decisively break with flunkeyism, treachery and dependence on outsiders and pool strength and wisdom of the whole nation. Let us firmly unite under the banner of national independence and great unity to pave the way for reunification of the country, our supreme desire. Kim Dae Jung regime is the traitorous one outstripping the preceding regimes in dependence on outsiders, flunkeyism and treachery. Let us overthrow the treacherous "people's government" and set up an independent and democratic government.

Koryo's bronze mirror

Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- During the Koryo dynasty (918-1392), Korea's first unified state, our people rapidly developed metal-workmanship to reflect their graceful emotions, matchless prowess and indomitable will. By taking an inventive approach to Kojoson's first ever bronze mirror with fine-thread patterns, Koryo developed round, square and petal-shaped mirrors with the designs of animals, plants and landscape in intaglio, relief or in linear engraving. They were diverse in diameter, ranging from 9 to 29 cm, wide-ranging in shape, representation and craftsmanship, they showed the advanced metal-workmanship of Koryo.
A typical example is the bronze mirror with a boat design, 17.2 cm in diameter, which was found at Ryongsan-dong in Kaesong. Shaped like a flower petal, it has a cord hanger in the center of the back. On the back, there is an impressive picture engraved in bold relief and fine lines. This mirror is acknowledged as a valuable legacy that testifies to Koryo's developed culture.
