Participants laid a floral basket and bouquets before the statue and made a bow. The governor of the county administration made a speech at the ceremony. A message of greetings to Kim Jong Il was handed to the Korean ambassador to Mongolia. The ceremony was followed by a joint friendship meeting for celebration.

Gifts and silk banner to Kim Jong Il from foreigners

Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il received gifts and a silk banner from Democratic Congo, Libya and Venezuela on September 7 upon his reelection as Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK. Otete Gaston Mboyo, national chairman of the National Movement of the Genuine Lumumbist Combatants of Democratic Congo, handed a gift to the Korean ambassador and said that Kim Jong Il is the sun of the 21st century and the great leader with distinguished wisdom and traits and that under his leadership Korea would be modernized and prosperous and the cause of national liberation of the world can be successfully accomplished. Embroidered in the back of a silk banner presented by the President of Albeida Bandis Construction and Contract Company are letters "Long live his excellency the great Kim Jong Il, the sun of the 21st century and leader of all people." Kim Jong Il also received a gift from the President of Yacambu University of Venezuela on the 50th founding anniversary of the DPRK.

They will face stern judgement by nation

Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities are employing ever conceivable vicious and base technique to block non-governmental cooperation between the two sides of Korea. The authorities of the South Korean "Agency for National Security Planning" and the "Ministry of Unification" have kept the Hyundai business group and other business groups from stepping up non-governmental cooperation with the relevant organs in North Korea. They have gone the length of feeding oxen, which had been donated by the honorary President of the Hyundai business group, with indigestible food so that the oxen may die slowly. As result of the crime committed on the directives of the ANSP and the "Ministry of Unification" 15 heads of oxen died by August and another 8 are on the point of dying. In early July we were shocked at the fact that all of sudden a few oxen died and the impure substances were found in stomaches of the dead oxen. But, we have not made clear our official position in this regard, considering that the problem may let down the fellow countrymen who want national reconciliation and unity and the non-governmental cooperation between the north and south of Korea. We cannot guess how many oxen may fall to the vicious plot of the "ANSP" and the "Ministry of Unification" which set themselves against the non-governmental cooperation. We, therefore, have to lay bare the plot. The anatomy of the relevant experts proved that the stomaches of the dead oxen had been filled with vinyl stripes and lumps of hemp ropes which cannot be seen in the DPRK, that the oxen had been forced to be fed with the impure substance in South Korea before sending them via the demarcation line. We have already secured enough material evidence. To our consternation, the ultra-right wing anti-communist fanatics of South Korea used even oxen for their dirty anti-DPRK campaign. Their act proves once again that the "ANSP" and the "Ministry of Unification" are herds of authorities and separatists who are stooped to any plots beyond human ken in a bid to block the inter-Korean non-governmental cooperation and create distrust between the South Korean businessmen and us. The ultra-right wing anti-communists of the "ANSP" and the "Ministry of Unification" spent a huge amount of money on sending commodities with poisonous substance to North Korea from China. History knows crime-woven records of not a small number of murderers and plotters. But, it does not know such murderers and plotters as the authorities of the "ANSP" and the "Ministry of Unification" who have committed the thrice-cursed crime such as murdering the fellow countrymen and sowing discord among them, infringing upon the sovereignty of other country. None of the South Korean successive "governments" but the self-styled "people's government" has used even animals for anti-north campaign. All this shows that with the "ANSP" and the "Ministry of Unification" left intact, there cannot be national reconciliation, unity, peace and reunification. The "ANSP" and the "Ministry of Unification" will be severely punished by history and the nation for their thrice-cursed crimes against the nation and reunification.

Statements on Korean issue distributed as UN official documents

Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- The September 15 statement of the spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry and the September 17 statement of the DPRK mission in the United Nations were distributed as official documents S 1998/865 and S 1998/866 of the United Nations Security Council on September 18. The statement of the spokesman denounces the reckless acts of Japan towards DPRK's launching of an artificial satellite, which are creating on northeast Asia a serious situation menacing world peace and security. The statement of the mission rejected the "press information" announced by the President of the UN Security Council in step with Japan's campaign against the DPRK and made clear that DPRK would continue peaceful space development. Recalling the fact that the united nations has never been informed in advance by those countries which launched satellites, it said: it is unreasonable for those nations to take issue with DPRK's launching of a satellite at the UN Security Council. This is a typical example that double standards are applied in the UN Security Council. The statement rejected the recent behaviour of the UN Security Council, regarding it as a grave insult to the sovereignty of Korea.

S. Korean authorities hit for anti-reunification crimes

Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the north headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) published a statement on Sunday denouncing the South Korean authorities for persecuting members of the south headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon), students under the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hhanchongryon) and Father Mun Kyu Hyon and other priests of the South Korean Catholic Priests' Council for Justice. The South Korean rulers "permitted" their northern trip and are now charging them with "infiltration" and "escape", describing the open activities of Pomminryon for national reunification as "pro-north" and "spying". This can never be overlooked, the statement said, and continued: Father Mun participated in the grand pro-reunification festival, which had been "accepted" by the South Korean rulers themselves, and made a speech calling for reunifying the country through great national unity. If his remarks endangered the existence and security of the "people's govermnent", it is as good as admitting by itself that such government must be removed for the sake of great national unity and national reunification. No matter how loudly the chief executive of South Korea is talking about inter-Korean "reconciliation and cooperation" and "permission to non-governmental exchange", it is nothing but a deception and a gimcrack to win public favour and cover up his anti-reunification colors. The South Korean authorities must release at once the unreasonably arrested Father Mun Kyu Hyon, Choe Jin Su, secretary general of the south headquarters of Pomminryon, and other pro-reunification patriots and students and stop the suppression of the pro-reunification patriotic forces unconditionally and promptly.

Immortal programme for national reunification

Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- Ideas and policies on reunification laid down by the President Kim Il Sung in his policy speech of May 24, 1990 are an immortal banner and platform for reunification which brightly indicates the road ahead of the reunification movement of the Korean nation, says Rodong Sinmun in a signed article today. The work says that the entire nation should push ahead with the struggle for country's reunification by founding a Democratic Confederal Republic of Koryo under the uplifted banner of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity. Indicated in the work is the five-point policy of national reunification the keynote of which is that the tension on the Korean peninsula must be eased and a peaceful climate for the country's reunification be created, the barrier of division must be removed and free travel and a full-scale open-door policy effected between the north and the south, the north and the south must develop their foreign relations on the principle of creating an international climate favourable for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country, the dialogue for reunification must be developed and that a nationwide united front for the country's reunification must be formed. The author of the article says: The three principles of national reunification -- independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity -- are a common reunification program of the nation which the north and the south confirmed through the July 4 Joint Statement and made public at home and abroad. Accordingly, the country must be reunified only on these principles no matter how the situation on the Korean peninsula may change in the future. The proposal for founding the Democratic Confederal Republic of Koryo is the most reasonable and realistic reunification blueprint which makes it possible to accomplish the cause of country's reunification by overcoming difficulties and obstacles lying in the way of reunification. The cause of national reunification can be successfully accomplished without any deviation only when the reunification movement is conducted true to the instructions of the President on achieving the reunification on the three principles of reunification and in accordance with the proposal for founding the Democratic Confederal Republic of Koryo.

Kim Jong Il, congratulated by South Korean people

Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- Members of the Patriotic Society for Reunification held a meeting on September 6 to congratulate Kim Jong Il's reelection as Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, according to Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation quoting information of the Ulsan City Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK). The chairman of the society said that the reelection of Kim Jong Il to the highest post of the state is a great honor of the era and the nation and that history knows no such statesman as him whose philosophy, exploits and trait of leadership are great. Only Kim Jong Il is a veteran statesman of President Kim Il Sung type, he said, adding. Future of a reunified and prosperous country is made sure by him. A wall paper congratulating his reelection was pasted up on a wall of a building in Chongju city, North Chungchong Province, on September 7, said the radio quoting information of the North Chungchong Provincial Committee of the NDFSK. Foreign figures visit DPRK embassies

Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- Foreign figures visited Korean embassies in their countries upon the reelection of Kim Jong Il as Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and on the occasion of the 50th birthday of the DPRK. Among them were the secretary general of the Pakistan People's Party and other figures of its central secretariat, the chairman and members of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association, the secretary general of the Pakistan Muslim League and members of its central secretariat, the chairman and members of the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Club, the manager of the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Silk Co. Ltd., the chief of information of the Organization of Socialists of the Mediterranean, the ministers of the state of defence and environment of Ethiopia, a delegation of the Pan-African Movement and the chairman of the Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association and members of its leadership. Korea with satellite

Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- The first artificial satellite was launched in socialist Korea. North Korea is keeping space development. It is wonderful that Korea has the technology of launching a satellite. Korea has become a member of the space state "club." This is what foreign mass media reported about the launch of the first artificial satellite in the DPRK. The carrier-rocket and satellite launched in Korea are a home-made product -- motors, control system, fuel, metal and nonmetal material, launching station equipment and control technology. Putting the artificial satellite into orbit at one time is unthinkable without clairvoyant intelligence and outstanding leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il. He has long unfolded a blueprint for space development by ourselves and energetically led the work for its realisation. He has also built a strong research group and laid the solid industrial foundations to guarantee the conquest of the cosmos. When scientists were losing heart in the face of difficulties, he encouraged them, saying a good beginning is half done and that he believes they are sure to make a success and that the cause of failure should be found with courage. Under his deep love and wise guidance, the scientists and technicians developed space science by their own efforts and succeeded in launching the first artificial satellite into orbit at one try. They named the satellite "Kwangmyongsong" in praise of Kim Jong Il. "Kwangmyongsong No. 1" and the carrier rocket had been already developed six years ago. Since then, the scientists and technicians have concentrated their efforts on the research into the practical satellite and made a great success, preparing for the satellite test launch. The prospect for space science and rocket technology is promising. Competent scientists and technicians have been built up and the solid industrial foundations laid.

Release of pro-reunification patriotic figures demanded

Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- A spokesman of the Japan mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) issued a statement on September 7 in demand of release of pro-reunification patriotic figures of South Korea including Father Mun Kyu Hyon. The statement said that the South Korean authorities arrested Father Mun, who participated in the August 15 grand pro-reunification festival, branding him as "offender." This is a ridiculous and perfidious act devoid of human reason and obligation and an anti-reunification move against national reconciliation and reunification. It strongly demanded the South Korean authorities abolish the "National Security Law", an anti-reunification evil law, and immediately and unconditionally release pro-reunification patriotic figures including Father Mun.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister expressed his belief that the Korean people would overcome the moves of the enemies to stifle them and difficulties caused by natural disasters and build a prosperous country under the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea headed by Kim Jong Il.
