U.S. must stop military threat = KCNA commentary =

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The United States has announced that it would deploy sophisticated military equipment and troops on the sea off the Korean peninsula. On July 20, it decided to deploy near the peninsula nuclear-powered carriers including Carl Vinson belonging to the U.S. Pacific Command, some 20 nuclear-powered attack submarines, various types of warplanes and troops. It also decided to issue an alert order to all operational areas of the U.S. Pacific Command including the Korean peninsula. Such dangerous military moves which can be seen only on the eve of war are an undisguised military provocation against the DPRK. They are tantamount to a declaration of war. The United States would start aggression on other countries with moving of huge sea operational forces. In view of this trite method, the deployment of huge armed forces near the Korean peninsula makes us suspect that it is the dispatch of an advance contingent for the provocation of a nuclear war on the peninsula. The U.S. military moves are an open violation of the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework in which it promised to refrain from using nuclear weapons and presenting nuclear threat against us. We cannot remain a passive onlooker to its moves. The U.S. military moves are designed to threaten with military force the Korean people, who are dynamically making the forced march for the final victory. The Korean people and army are not frightened by any aircraft carrier or nuclear weapon. Their revolutionary stamina is characterized by response to strength with strength and war with war. If the United States threathen us, its dialogue partner, with reckless military moves, we will be left with no other choice but to take powerful self-defensive steps unhesitatingly. If so, the United States will have much more to lose than to win. It should stop arrogant military threat at once.

Fatal blow would be dealt to enemy if they unleash war, declares chief of KPA general staff

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Chun, chief of the general staff of the Korean People's Army, warned the U.S. warmaniacs, the South Korean puppets looking for a chance of aggression and the Japanese reactionaries in conspiracy with them against a rash act. He, addressing a national meeting held here this morning to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War, said that the military exercises of the enemies to stifle the DPRK are making our army and people sharpen vigilance. It is our consistent stand to answer the appeasement strategy of the imperialists with the revolutionary principle, and their armed invasion with a revolutionary war, he noted, and stressed: If the enemies ignite a war in defiance of our repeated warnings, our army and people will rise up as one in a sacred war for revenge and, with all potentialities, give them more fatal blow than in the last war so as to remove the root cause of war from the Korean peninsula. The U.S. conservative hardliners, the Japanese reactionaries and the South Korean warmaniacs should know this and act with discretion. It is the unshaking guts of our army and people not to allow the globe to exist without Korea but to fight to the end against those who encroach upon the sovereignty of our nation. It is our firm will to build a strong power of Juche in a reunified country as Kim Il Sung wished in his lifetime.

National meeting on anniversary of victory in war

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- A national meeting to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Korean people in the great fatherland liberation war was held at the 6,000-seat theatre of the April 25 House of Culture in Pyongyang today. Pak Song Chol, Kim Yong Nam, Ri Ul Sol, Jo Myong Rok and other senior officials of the party, state and army were present. Kim Yong Chun, chief of the general staff of the Korean People's Army, made a report at the meeting. He said that the Korean people won the historic victory in the war by overpowering the enemy's numerical and technological superiority with politico-ideological and strategic and tactical superiority under the outstanding political and military leadership of Kim Il Sung, a genius of the revolution and prominent strategist. He went on: The Korean people shattered to smithereens the myth of the U.S. imperialists' "mightiness" in the three-year anti-U.S. sacred war, shaking the world. They encouraged the oppressed and exploited people of the world in their anti-imperialist national liberation struggle and made a great contribution to defending the socialist cause. The Korean people are now undergoing unprecedentedly harsh trials because of the anti-DPRK, anti-socialist campaign of the imperialists and reactionaries. In fact, they are going through such a grim war as the last Fatherland Liberation War. Under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, the Korean People's Army and people have firmly defended and exalted Korean socialism, smashing the enemy's counterrevolutionary offensive with a great revolutionary offensive in the war devoid of gunfire. This miracle of history eloquently verifies the invariable truth that invincibility of the party, state, army and people is guaranteed by the greatness of the leader. Kim Yong Chun called for firmly defending the Korean revolution from the enemy's encroachment, strengthening the position of Korean socialism in every way and accomplishing the Juche revolutionary cause under the banner of anti-imperialism and independence. He laid stress on maintaining the Korean socialist economic structure and developing the national defence industry to meet the demand of the obtaining situation. With an unchangeable design to stifle the DPRK, he said, the U.S. warmongers, South Korean puppets and Japanese reactionaries in conspiracy with them continue to amass huge armed forces and up-to-date military equipment in and around South Korea and stage frantic war exercises almost everyday. Waiting for a chance to invade the DPRK. This makes the Korean People's Army and people sharpen their vigilance. It is our consistent principle to answer the appeasment strategy of the imperialists with the revolutionary principle, and their armed invasion with a revolutionary war, he said, and stressed: If the enemies unleash a war in defiance of our repeated warnings, our army and people will rise up as one in the sacred war for revenge and give them a heavier blow than in the past war with all potentialities so as to remove the root cause of war from the Korean peninsula. The U.S. conservative hardliners, Japanese reactionaries and South Korean warmaniacs should know this and act with discretion. Though our struggle is arduous today, our future is optimistic and a final victory is in store for us because we are guided by Kim Jong Il, the illustrious commander of Mt. Paektu and there is the invincible strength of the army and people singleheartedly rallied around him.

Might of Korean people's singlehearted unity

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Foreigners staying in Korea visited polling booths for the election of deputies to the tenth Supreme People's Assembly here on Sunday and gave their deep impressions. The head of a youth delegation of Libya said he admired the free and democratic election, which was quite different from what he had seen, heard and felt in the west. It is under the socialist system and the great leader that the election proceeded smoothly in Korea, he added. A Japanese businessman, Kajita Kenji, said the atmosphere at polling booths of Korea is entirely different from those in capitalist society. There is no such country as Korea in the world, he said. A Russian pressman, Vladimir Yakushev, said with tears in his eyes that at a polling booth he saw the might of singlehearted unity of the leader, the party and the masses. This wonderful election is beyond imagination in the west, he said. Maria Julia Guerra, section chief of the Cuban paper Ahora, said at a polling booth that the election has been held in a very free and democratic way, not by money. She stressed that visiting a polling booth, she could see the might of the singlehearted unity of the Korean people who are closely rallied around Kim Jong Il.

End of defeated generals

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- July 27 is a historic day when the heroic Korean people gave a crushing defeat to the U.S. imperialist aggressors and won a great victory 45 years ago. The following is the miserable end of the U.S. imperialist murderer "generals" in the three-year-long Korean War. Macarthur, the first "UN Forces" Commander, acted the victor not only once or twice in his life. But his "honor" was not eternal. The "Christmas general offensive" of the Macarthur Command, which has suffered one setback after another from the beginning of the war, was shattered in the first step by a decisive rebuff of the Korean People's Army. Not glory but a miserable doom was awaiting Macarthur who lost not only the frontline units but also the reserve force units. In April 1951 the then U.S. President, Truman, declared Macarthur dismissed. It was on July 1, 1950 that dean, who had shown "valor" in the Second World War, was appointed as commander of the U.S. 24th division, which had been called a "victorious division" in the Pacific War. Leaving for the Korean front, he blared that one divisional force of the U.S. army was enough to hold at bay the counteroffensive of the KPA. But, Dean's dream went up in smoke at the very start. The U.S. 24th divison was totally destroyed in the Taejon battle on July 20, that was the 20th day after its arrival in South Korea. Dean himself was taken prisoner by a people's army soldier. He was the first division commander of U.S. imperialist aggression forces to be taken prisoner in the Korean War. Walker, the commander of the U.S. Eighth Army at the time of the Korean War, ordered his men to kill the Koreans in cold blood. The murderer considered a massacre warfare the best way of his promotion to higher ranks. He tried to get "fame" in reliance upon such a "warfare." He got nothing but a death in the Korean War. Hard hit by the KPA units behind the enemy's line, he organised the South Korean puppet third army corps and went to Ryonchon to command it in early December 1950. But, he kicked the bucket, falling into an ambush by the KPA while fleeing to Jongok in a heavy tank, escorted by the his men in 8 trucks on December 13, 1950. Ridgway who was the commander of the U.S. Eighth Army and then the U.S. Far East Forces commander and concurrently commander of the "UN Forces" met with the same doom of Macarthur. Height 1211 in the eastern sector of the front was the main target of attack of the "autumn offensive" of massive scale in September 1951. By throwing into it more than 50,000 troopers and sophisticated military hardware he made attacks in waves scores of times a day. But, the "autumn offensive" commanded by him ended in failure with 17,000 more deaths than in the "summer offensive." The enemy soldiers driven into the attack called Height 1211 "heart-breaking hill" meaning that they lost heart at the mere sight of it and the valley below it "trap valley" meaning that no one who entered it came back alive. Ridgway was dismissed one year after he was appointed as U.S. Far East Forces commander. It was in April 1951 that van fleet was appointed as commander of the U.S. Eighth Army. Finding a way out of the U.S. defeat in the war in the "new offensive," he made preparations for a "model battle" on Jonghyong height with huge forces and combat materials and let a large number of officers, war correspondents of the "UN Forces" and foreign minister residents and consuls inspect the battle. But the battle ended in a total fiasco. As a result, van fleet was stripped of the general's uniform. Clark who was appointed as commander of the "UN Forces" at the end of the Korean war vowed to his Washington master who had been driven to desperate straits by repeated setbacks in the war to turn the scale in the war. He called many flying corps out to commit indiscriminate bombing, saying that he would remove 78 towns in the northern half of Korea from the map. The bombing became powerless before the firm will of the Korean people. The "Kimhwa offensive" into which he had thrown huge forces, staking his own fate on it, ended in a shameful defeat. After suffering one setback after another, the U.S. ruling quarters told Clark to sign an armistice agreement, admitting their defeat. Clark lamented his fate as the first U.S. Forces commander who failed to win victory and signed the armistice agreement.
