Rodong Sinmun censures S. Korean puppets for military exercises

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- The South Korean "army metropolitan defense command" recently announced that a "tactical training" will be staged in Seoul from May 25 to 30. Earlier, from May 18 to 23, a similar training was carried out in downtown Seoul day and night. Rodong Sinmun today says the South Korean puppets' frequent military exercises are aimed at inciting north-south confrontation and war under the pretext of the non-existent "threat from the north" and diverting public attention elsewhere. If the present South Korean rulers styling their regime a "government of the people" did not carry forward the policy of confrontation and war pursued by the civilian-veiled warmaniacs, they would not resort to war exercises so frantically, the daily says in a commentary, and continues: There has been no change in the puppets' policy of confrontation. If they continue seeking confrontation and war, inter-Korean relations will be further deteriorated and the nation will get a war disaster, let alone its reunification. The warmaniacs had better act with prudence, mindful that the war gamble will only precipitate their doom.

Rodong Sinmun calls for creating new Chollima speed, forced march speed

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comes out with an editorial calling for creating a new Chollima speed, forced march speed on all fronts of socialist construction. This speed traces its origin to the steadfast spirit of resolutely safeguarding the leader and represents the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and the spirit of bold offensive with which to create something out of nothing and break through obstacles. The editorial says: The history of the Korean people who have built socialism under the guidance of the party and the leader is the history of leaps when they have advanced as fast as Chollima (winged horse), creating a new speed of the general onward movement. The speed of Pyongyang, the speed of Vinalon and other world-startling speeds of advance were created one after another with the flow of the history of great Chollima upsurge which began in the 1950s. When all the people redouble their efforts and create the speed of forced march, the history of great Chollima upsurge will continue and our country will shine as a "country of Chollima." The present forced march for final victory is a fierce decisive battle with the enemy. It is high time we advanced dynamically, doing in a day what would take a hundred days. Only when we create a new Chollima speed, forced march speed can we rapidly vitalize the economy of the country and consolidate our political, military and economic fortresses like an impregnable fortress. When the speed of forced march is created, we can frustrate the anti-socialist moves of the enemy. We should extensively create the speed of forced march in all fields and units. Only then can socialism will definitely win and our country will become an impregnable fortress which any enemy dare not violate.

To this end, it is imperative to legalize a fact-finding group of dietmen at an early date, he added. In their speeches, dietmen said that if the past wrongdoings are to be probed and atoned for objectively, it is important to put the historical fact to rights. U.S. paper on serious employment problem in S. Korea

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- The Washington Post May 17 said South Korea's employment security is hopeless. All companies of South Korea have been pressured by the "government" to carry out "structural readjustment" for "recovery" of the South Korean economy, so massive layoffs are unavoidable, the paper said. According to the paper, about 8,000 workers lose their jobs every day and the unemployment rate is likely to reach 10-12 percent at the end of the year. With unemployment causing social problems, 25 suicides are reported on a daily average and there has been a 50 percent increase in robbery in two months this year. The South Korean workers consider the "structural readjustment" means losing their houses, families and even neighbours, the paper said. The paper quoted an analyst as saying South Korea is like a small boat on a rough ocean.

Rodong Sinmun on army-people unity

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- The Korean society which is not wavering in any storms has been defended by the great strength of army-people unity. Rodong Sinmun says this today in a political essay titled "Let us win with army-people unity." No matter how desperately and recklessly the enemy may try, our society is impregnable and we are always ever-victorious as long as there is army-people unity cemented by General Kim Jong Il, the political essay points out, and goes on: Army-people unity behind the Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il, this is the essence and root of the Juche society, an invincible society distinctive in the world. Our red flag is one of army-people unity. The Chollima spirit of socialist Korea startling the world is the spirit of army-people unity, the basic spirit of our era is the idea of this unity and the most beautiful look of our society is bloomed by this unity. The situation is so difficult that others would have fallen down several times, but Korean socialism is demonstrating its might as an impregnable fortress as it has a strong root of army-people unity. Loyalty and filial piety to Supreme Commander and the spirit of human bomb in defending the headquarters are the great spirit of the era produced by army-people unity. The spirit of Kanggye and the torchlight kindled at the Songjin Steel Complex are the banner of struggle that encourages the workers and people to the final victory in the revolutionary spirit of soldiers. Army-people unity in ideology, fighting trait and in sharing life and death, sweets and bitters is the profound essence of his great politics giving priority to army and the supreme principle and highest goal of the revolutionary leadership which are consistent with all his thinking, activities, inexhaustible energies and devotion. Army-people unity is a proud crystal of the great revolutionary history of the commanders of Mt. Paektu. President Kim Il Sung provided its first seed and handed it over as a tradition of the Korean revolution and the Supreme Commander has cemented it as the strong root of our society, regarding it as the basis in defending the revolution. Our army-people unity around the Supreme Commander will overcome the whirlwind of history, more vigorously build the socialism of Juche and win victory in the 21st century.

Principle of anti-imperialist struggle

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today says in a signed article that all the progressive people in the world must vigorously fight against imperialism under the banner of the anti-imperialist struggle to achieve the cause of independence of mankind without fail. It is important in the struggle not to have an illusion about imperialism, the paper says, and goes on: If one has an illusion about imperialism, one will give up the anti-imperialist struggle and later will become its slave. The imperialists are trying to make impressions that their nature has changed, in a bid to numb class consciousness and anti-imperialist consciousness of the people and stamp out their anti-imperialist struggle. To maintain principled stand toward imperialism and fight against imperialism to the last is one of the principled demands in the struggle. The popular masses should continue the anti-imperialist struggle without interruption and steadfastly maintain the anti-imperialist stand. Especially, they should not weaken the struggle though they have economic relations with capitalist countries. All the anti-imperialist forces must unite to invigorate the struggle. When the anti-imperialist forces for independence firmly unite, they can check the imperialists' moves of aggression and war and successfully cut off their tentacles of domination and plunder. It is one of the most important things in the struggle at present to powerfully stage the anti-war and anti-nuclear struggle. The progressive people should have aggressive military bases of the imperialists abolished and their troops withdrawn and establish nuclear-free and peace zones in all parts of the world. In particular, they should vigorously wage the movement for eliminating nuclear weapons.

Vinalon production goes up

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- Following the torch kindled at the Songjin Steel Complex, the workers and technicians at the Sunchon Vinalon Complex are working hard to increase the production of Vinalon by effecting a revolutionary upswing in their work. The workers at the limekiln workshop rebuilt the outlet of kilns nos. 6, 7 and 8 to produce high-quality caustic lime in larger quantities. In addition, they introduced new techniques to manufacture electrodes suited to the specific features of the kilns and conduct the mixture of raw materials on a scientific basis, thus raising higher the quality of products. Those at the carbide and all other workshops are also bringing about uninterrupted innovations. Technicians at the complex are making a contribution to increasing Vinalon while striving to secure raw materials on their own. They succeeded in producing a catalyzer by making use of raw materials abundant in Korea and introducing it into production. Besides, they solved a series of scientific and technical problems arising in the production of hypochlorous soda, one of the basic raw materials for Vinalon production, thus making it possible to normalize the production of Vinalon and increasing its output.
