Memorial committees for President Kim Il Sung formed

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- Committees for honoring the memory of President Kim Il Sung were continuously inaugurated in different countries to mark the third anniversary of his death. The inaugural meeting held in Sofia on June 7 elected the Chairman of the Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association Chairman of the Committee and decided to set a memorial period from June 7 to July 10. The Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the Mali African Party for Solidarity and Justice was elected Chairman of the Committee Formed in Bamako on the same day. Miraj Khalid, President of the International Islamic University and Former Prime Minister of a Provisional Government of Pakistan, was elected Chairman of the National Preparatory Committee for Recalling President Kim Il Sung inaugurated in Islamabad on June 5. The inaugural meeting set a memorial month from June 8 to July 8 and decided to hold various events including a memorial meeting, a memorial service and a seminar on the President's exploits during the month. The inaugural meeting held in Lagos on June 9 elected the Chairman of the Nigeria-DPRK Friendship Association Chairman of the Committee. The Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Tajikistan on June 6 announced a decision to form a memorial committee on the occasion of the third anniversary of the death of President Kim Il Sung. According to the decision, the memorial committee consisting of chairman and secretaries of the party central committee, chairman of the control committee of the party and secretaries of regional party committees was formed and was authorized to hold all events.

Life and feats of President Kim Il Sung recalled in Madagascar

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) - The Madagascan Monima Socialist Organization, the Militant Party for the Realization of Equality and the Kim Il Sung Bookshop in Antsirabe city held meetings to recall the brilliant life and feats of President Kim Il Sung over June 4-7 to mark the third anniversary of his death. The Secretary General of the Monima Socialist Organization, the National Chairman of the Militant Party and others said in their speeches that President Kim Il Sung is a genius of ideology and theory, master of leadership and iron-willed brilliant commander respected by the world. They went on: "He embarked on the road of revolution in his teens and devoted his all to the victory of the Korean and world revolution till the last moment of his life." "He will always live in the hearts of the world progressive people." "The Juche idea founded by him and the revolutionary cause started by him are successfully carried forward and accomplished by the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il, who is identical with him in ideology, leadership and virtues. "

Crackdown upon "Hanchongryon" denounced

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea published a statement on Monday, bitterly lashing out at the Kim Young Sam's outrageous moves to stifle the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon). The statement said the Kim Young Sam fascist clique's repressive move against "Hanchongryon" is a reactionary offensive intended to check the massive struggle of students and block independence and democracy in south Korean society and national reunification. This reckless move can be justified with nothing, it stressed, adding it will only precipitate the doom of the fascist group. The statement said: We express the belief that workers in south Korea will decisively smash the fascist clique's moves to stifle "Hanchongryon". We also believe that they will more vigorously turn out in the massive struggle to overthrow Kim Young Sam, the "civilian" fascist dictator and the ringleader of irregularities and corruptness who has reduced workers to a more miserable lot through the retrogressive amendment of the mediaeval "Labour Laws".

Rodong Sinmun gives an account of events held abroad with the approach of the third death anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. Under the fixed title "The great leader comrade Kim Il Sung will always be with us", the paper carries an article saying the Korean people are family members of President Kim Il Sung for ever. Minju Joson edits an article titled "Eternal father of families across country", illustrated by a Korean painting on President Kim Il Sung inspecting gas service in a rural flat. The press conveys the news that farmers, servicemen and helpers are concentrating efforts on manuring and tending crops in response to the telegraph order issued by Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il. Appearing in Rodong Sinmun are articles on achievements scored by the Korean people over the past three years in their efforts to carry out the wishes of President Kim Il Sung with earnest yearning for him. Remaining in the limelight of papers are articles lambasting the Kim Young Sam group's crackdown on the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), under the banner titles "fascist clique hellbent on suppression of 'Hanchongryon' will not evade punishment" and "dictators' suppression of 'Hanchongryon' should be checked by united efforts". Minju Joson runs a commentary berating the Kim Young Sam group's arms buildup. Conspicuous in papers is a detailed report released by the society for human rights studies on the anti-DPRK smear campaign of the Japanese rightist reactionary forces. Rodong Sinmun comes out with an article on the forcible drafting of Koreans by the Japanese imperialists and Minju Joson an article on relations of the U.S.-Japan military Tieup that is being tightened in a new phase.

Arms buildup of hawkish elements

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- The Kim Young Sam puppet clique's plan to purchase "stinger" missiles from the United States is part of the arms beef-up they are bent on with what they call threat from the north as an excuse, says Minju Joson in a commentary today, denouncing it as an intolerable criminal act. The news analyst continues: Faced with an acute ruling crisis derived from the Hanbo scandal and suspicion of the 92 "Presidential Election" funds, the Kim Young Sam group are trying to find a way out in hardening suppression of pro-reunification democrats and unleashing a war against the fellow countrymen. The northern half of Korea is watching with vigilance the reckless move of the Kim Young Sam group who are racing headlong along the road of confrontation and war in a bid to save their life. If they continue to purchase lethal weapons from abroad to screw up tension and light the fuse of a new war in the end, we will answer them with resolute counter-attack.

"ANSP's" plots against "Hanchongryon" must be checked

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries a signed commentary exposing the campaign of the puppet Agency for National Security Planning (ANSP) to suppress and stifle the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon). The commentary says: The Kim Young Sam group's fascist offensive on "Hanchongryon" is unthinkable without the "ANSP", the general headquarters of fascism, murder and plots. The "ANSP" is fabricating all plots and intrigues to totally obliterate "Hanchongryon". The row of "secession from Hanchongryon" at some universities, false rumors about it and vicious remarks are all invented by the "ANSP". Last year the "ANSP" manipulated mass media to describe the self-sefence of students at Yonsei University as an "extremist violent act" and created an excuse to crack down on "Hanchongryon" ruthlessly. Mass media of south Korea are these days reporting about "Hanchongryon's enemy-benefitting and violent character" on the scenario of the "ANSP" to incriminate "Hanchongryon". With the "ANSP" left intact, the bloodshed of "Hanchongryon" and other democratic forces of south Korea cannot be blocked nor can the victorious advance of the movement for independence, democracy and reunification be expected. The south Korean people must decisively check the fascist plots of the "ANSP" against "Hanchongryon".

Society for human rights studies on anti-DPRK campaign in Japan

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- The DPRK society for human rights studies on Monday published a detailed report on the anti-DPRK campaign launched by Japanese rightwing reactionaries over the "case of suspected kidnap of a Japanese girl." This "case" is a product of the vicious political conspiracy between the south Korean puppets and the Japanese reactionaries, the report noted, and said: Recently there has been progress in the DPRK-U.S. relations and Japan is expected to turn to the improvement of relations with the DPRK. Alarmed and uneasy at this, the south Korean puppets felt it urgent to cook up a shocking "incident" aimed at instigating Japan to stand in confrontation with the DPRK. So the drama, in which the DPRK is "suspected of having kidnapped a Japanese girl," was invented in a hurry at south Korea's "Agency for National Security Planning". The drama is based on the statement of a north Korean "agent" who "defected" to south Korea. The statement is that one day in hospital he was told by a roommate that a Japanese senior middle school girl was "kidnapped", who the agent said may be the girl who disappeared in Niigata, Japan, 20 years ago. Just having received the scenario of this drama from the south Korean puppets, the Japanese right-wing reactionaries concentrated efforts on bringing it into action. They judged that the drama will be "effective" in tarnishing the DPRK's image and inciting hostile sentiments toward the DPRK among the Japanese people and that this will help attain their insideous purpose of avoiding Japan's atonement for the past crimes. "Sankei Shimbun" and other venal press media of Japan launched anti-DPRK propaganda over the "case". And some politicians from the new frontier party "asked" the diet to probe the "case". Furthermore, the Japanese reactionaries mobilized parents of the missing girl to call for a probe into the "case". They also spread the rumour that 16 other people who have been missing in Japan for the last 20 years might have been "kidnapped" by the DPRK's "operatives". The Japanese Government has made a fuss for "investigation" but found no clue because the "case" is based on no credible evidence or material but speculation and hypothesis. On the contrary, it will be made all the clearer that the "case" has nothing to do with the DPRK. The Japanese authorities must promptly stop the frantic anti-DPRK campaign, though belatedly, mindful that they will get nothing from this poor and false drama, which will not be good for Japan itself in the long run.

South Korean critic on victorious "Arduous March" in north

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- Kim Song Chol, a critic in Seoul, south Korea, released an article titled "Triumphant 'Arduous March'", the radio voice of national salvation from Seoul reported. The article praises the Korean people who are triumphantly concluding the "Arduous March" under the red flag of revolution, led by Secretary Kim Jong Il. The article says in part: The military parade held at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang on April 25 was live telecast by CNN and was televiewed by people in some 170 countries. This was not a simple military parade but a powerful demonstration of the might of the invincible Korean People's Army led by Secretary Kim Jong Il, a great man produced by heaven, as well as a true picture of north Korea in which the people are united around their leader. I was sure of their victory in the "Arduous March" at the sight of the parade columns and tens of thousands of people raising cheers toward their Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il. The April 15 commemorative events and the April 25 military parade dealt a heavy blow at those who were dreaming of some "change" in the north and discouraged the U.S. and its followers attempting to stifle the north by force. The people in the north more loudly sing revolutionary songs full of optimism and hold higher the red flag which fluttered in the van of anti-Japanese independence fighters, inspite of grave difficulties caused by heinous anti-DPRK moves of the imperialists, tremendous economic losses caused by repeated natural calamities unprecedented in history and the sudden death of President Kim Il Sung. The north is like a phoenix, indeed. The optimistic spirit of the northern people working world-startling miracles is based on the confidence that they can overcome any adversity and defeat any strong enemy and create greater happiness under the leadership of Secretary Kim Jong Il, who is just like President Kim Il Sung. The north is still in the "Arduous March" but will finish it victoriously before long.

Dastardly plots aimed at suppressing "Hanchongryon"

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- A policeman and a citizen died on the spot while students were struggling for the Fifth-Term Ceremony of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) in early June. These two incidents are plots aimed at cracking down on and stifling "Hanchongryon". As regards the case of the policeman's death, the puppet attorney general said that the death was caused by students' "violence". But the Chief of the Medicolegal Section of the "national science institute" of south Korea in an interview after autopsy the day after the death said "it is most likely that the riot policeman died hit by a vehicle" judging from the rupture of his liver and right pelvis. This announcement proved true as witnesses also said that the policeman was run over by an armoured teargas launcher of the police during the suppression of demonstrators. Police said on June 4 that a lathe operator surnamed Ri, branded as a "police agent," was beaten to death by students at Hanyang University. The police claimed that the worker was wandering on the fifth floor of the student hall of the university before being caught by students of the "corps defending Hanchongryon", who suspected him to be a police agent and beat him to death while trying to wrest confession from him. But the truth of the case was brought to light soon. In a bid to invent a pretext to suppress "Hanchongryon", the fascist clique infiltrated him into the university in a crafty method and caused his death. With such poor and base plots the Kim Young Sam group are attempting to justify the repression of "Hanchongryon" and divert elsewhere the public attention from the Hanbo incident. But this is a foolish act. History will certainly punish those who resort to base plots.

Russian public figures pray for eternal life of President Kim Il Sung

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- Russian men of science, culture and art, and the press held a meeting to pray for the eternal life of President Kim Il Sung in Moscow on June 13 with the approach of the third anniversary of his death. The Chairman of the Council of the Union of Communist Parties-the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, chief editors of the papers "Glasnost" and "Pravda Moscow" and other public figures said in their speeches that President Kim Il Sung is immortal in the will and desire of the Korean people to carry out his last wishes and in the aspirations of the world people who are watching socialist Korea with good faith and expectation. Pyongyang marks 10th anniversary of June popular resistance in s. Korea

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- A Pyongyang meeting was held today to mark the 10th anniversary of the June popular resistance in south Korea. The June, 1987, resistance was an anti-U.S., anti-fascist popular struggle to put an end to the U.S. colonial domination over and interference in the internal affairs of south Korea, retake the sovereignty of the nation and achieve the democratisation of society against the fascist dictatorship. The resistance lasted more than 20 days with the participation of over five million people from all walks of life. Yielding to the resistance fighters, the Chun Doo Hwan Military fascist clique had to publish the "June 29 declaration" promising the "constitutional revision for direct elections", the release of detainees and other matters. Han Si Hae, Director of the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, said in his report: South Korea is still under the colonial fascist rule of outside forces and their stooges owing to the despicable treacherous acts of its rulers. The present south Korean rulers are a group of flunkeyists and traitors who are more openly dependent upon the outsiders than any preceding rulers. Some time ago, the south Korean fascist clique openly declared that they would completely disorganise the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) which is standing in the van of the movement for reunification and democracy. Since then have they made desperate efforts to dissolve and destroy the students' autonomous organisation from within, employing violence and government power. Anyone who values the destinies of the country and the nation and truly aspires after the reunification of the country should oppose outsiders' domination over and interference in the internal affairs of south Korea and categorically check the flunkeyist and treacherous moves of the south Korean rulers. If the United States wants peace on the Korean Peninsula, not war, and is truly interested in the settlement of the pending matters with the DPRK, it must respond at an early date to the call for signing a DPRK-U.S. peace agreement, discard the hostile policy towards the DPRK and stop such reckless moves as encouraging the south Korean puppets to unleash war against the north. Besides, it must stop rendering support to Kim Young Sam, who is obstructing the improvement of DPRK-U.S. relations.
