Rodong Sinmun on Japan's diplomacy

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The Thursday edition of Rodong Sinmun characterized Japan's as diplomacy of reading another's face and currying favor with others. In an article titled "What is Japan's 'independent diplomacy' like?" The daily said Japan lacks its own judgement and independence in foreign relations. It noted: The country used to read another's mind, please another's whim and dance to the tune of others. This is neither distortion and exaggeration nor a travesty of the country. Japan has an old habit of seeking after its own profit with the backing of a power. Japan and the united states are in the master-servant relationship. Japan has always watched the U.S. intention in international problems and has acted as told by the U.S. It also zealously backs what the U.S. does. The Japanese authorities, currying favor with the U.S., do not dare complain of even what is harmful to the interests of the Japanese people and the security of the country and let the U.S. do what it wants. Their position on the "four-way talks" and the "suspected kidnapping of a Japanese girl" offers a clear glimpse of Japan's sycophantic diplomacy. As Japan has nothing to do with the "four-way talks", it has no ground to poke its nose into the matter. But it favors the U.S., raising the matter as a condition for the progress in DPRK-Japan ties. Japan sees the south Korean puppets' face and acts as intended by them in dealing with the DPRK. It is really disgraceful. Indeed, Japan lacks its own principle and independence. How can such a country be put on a responsible post of the United Nations? Japan should reshape the dependent diplomacy instead of coveting a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

Japan's anti-DPRK campaign under fire

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Measure Committee for demanding compensations to "comfort women for the army" and pacific war victims on Thursday issued a statement slamming the Japanese rightwing reactionaries' vicious anti-DPRK campaign. The statement said: Some officials of the foreign ministry and the ruling party of Japan are viciously working to slander the DPRK. They even urge the DPRK to accept investigation concerning the "suspected abduction of a Japanese girl". The case is a despicable political plot faked up by the south Korean puppets to incite anti-DPRK feelings and a product of the anti-DPRK policy of the pro-south Korean rightwing reactionaries of Japan. The case is an attempt of the Japanese reactionaries to incite anti-DPRK sentiment among the Japanese people and avoid atoning for the immeasurable damage and losses imposed upon the Korean people. The Japanese reactionaries should not dance to the tune of others, but honestly apologize and atone for their past crimes. We will never tolerate their anti-DPRK campaign but make them pay thousandfold generation after generation.

Stop to suppression of "Hanchongryon" urged

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland published its information No. 739 on June 12 denouncing the Kim Young Sam group's fascist suppression of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon). On June 10, the "headquarters of joint investigation into leftist offenders" which consists of the puppet prosecution, police, the "agency for national security planning", the "ministry of education" and other fascist plot-breeding bodies decided to take a legal action against all the leading members of the fifth-term "Hanchongryon" on the charge of "forming and joining an organisation benefitting the enemy" by invoking the "National Security Law". Therefore, the autonomous activities of "Hanchongryon" are totally blocked and progressive students taken away to prison in south Korea, the information said, and went on: "Hanchongryon" is a progressive and patriotic organisation that has valiantly fought in the van of the movement for independence and democratization of south Korean society and the reunification of the country since the first days of its formation, of its own accord and not under the "instructions" and "manipulation" of the north. Nevertheless, the Kim Young Sam group are cracking down on it by branding it as a "pro-north organisation benefitting the enemy" and "leftist violent organisation." This is nonsense which cannot convince anyone. The south Korean rulers must stop their reckless suppression at once, pondering over its grave consequence.

Ulterior intention

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppets are more viciously trying to obstruct the humanitarian food aid to the DPRK from the international community. At a "south Korea-U.S. policy examination committee" held in the United States some time ago, the Policy Assistant Secretary of the puppet Defence Ministry prattled that as "food crisis in the north is nothing but a certain phenomenon", the United States and south Korea must intensify a "joint preparedness" in view of the developments in the north. Earlier, the Minister of the puppet National Unification Board and other philistines spread a false rumour that the north is using aid materials as "military supplies". As their false propaganda was strongly refutted by the department of humanitarian affairs of the united nations, they circulated a rumour that sufficient quantities of food have already been supplied to the DPRK by the international community. In the past, the south Korean puppets resorted to dastardly anti-DPRK smear campaigns, saying the temporary food shortage caused by natural disasters in the north was a product of "structural contradiction" and that it was so "catastrophic" that the "social system" may collapse. Now, they are vociferating about "possible provocation by the north", alleging that "the food crisis in the north is insignificant". What they seek in this is to prevent the international community from giving humanitarian food aid to the DPRK, further aggravate the inter-Korean confrontation under the patronage of the United States and use the food shortage in the north as a chance to slander its ideology and system. We cannot but feel a bitter hatred for the south Korean puppets who are obstructing even the humanitarian aid from the international community, bringing pains to the hearts of the fellow countrymen who are suffering from natural disasters. If anyone conspires with the south Korean puppets in their despicable move and dances to their tune, it will be branded as another unethical act in history.

S. Korean puppets' belligerent outbursts

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- Kim Young Sam of south Korea summoned the puppet Defence Minister and other top military brasshats to "Chongwadae" on June 7 for war preparations and the puppet military held various kinds of "commanding officers' meetings" until June 11, according to a news report. Now the Kim and the top military brasshats are clamouring about the north's "possible armed provocation" and crying for "paying sharp attention to the north's situation" and "promptly smashing its provocation". Our servicemen and people are engaging in farming in response to the telegram order of the Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army. But the puppets' belligerent outbursts make us exercise utmost vigilance. Their blast proves that the puppets' hostile act on the West Sea on June 5 was not an accident but a grave military action against the north and also a premeditated and intentional move to bring the situation to the brink of war. On Wednesday, south Korean puppet soldiers, through a loudspeaker, threatened with "firing" and "retaliation" our servicemen on routine patrol duty on the north's position in the Western Sector of the Front. It was another intolerable intentional and premediated act. The situation eloquently bespeaks that it is none other than the south Korean puppets who, in the grip of the worst crisis, intend to commit an armed provocation, not mindful that it will lead to their destruction.

Friendship gathering with Cuban Embassy officials

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The Korea-Cuba Solidarity Committee sponsored a friendship gathering with officials of the Cuban Embassy here at the Pyongyang Textile Combine on June 12 to mark the birth anniversary of the internationalist Che Guevara. Invited to the gathering were Cuban Ambassador Jose Ramon Rodriguez Varona and his Embassy officials. They inspected a general dyeing workshop named after Che Guevara and the kindergarten of the combine and saw part 6 on "KAPF writers", part 39 of the Korean multi-part feature film "the nation and destiny". The participants in the gathering recalled Che Guevara's life and activities and deepened the feeling of friendship.

Statement of south Korean professors on situation

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- Professors of Yonsei University in south Korea published a statement on the situation on June 10 to mark the 10th anniversary of the June popular resistance. In the statement the professors urged Kim Young Sam to open to the public the "Presidential Election" fund of 1992 and declared they will participate in a campaign for his immediate resignation in case he refuses to accept the demand. Referring to his "special statement to the people," they denounced him for threatening to make an "important decision" instead of clarifying the scale of the "Presidential Election" fund.

NDFSK calls for defending "Hanchongryon"

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNAS -- The Director of the Youth and Student Department of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) slammed the Kim Young Sam regime for trying to disorganize the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) and called on the people to defend it. In a statement issued on June 7, he said the suppression of "Hanchongryon" has revealed the Kim Young Sam regime's vicious intention to save itself, which has been in the grip of the worst crisis since it appeared. The suppression is a reactionary offensive for clearing away all the factors obstructive to the prolongation of the pro-U.S. Dictatorial regime before "Presidential Elections", He said. He urged that the Kim Young Sam regime promptly stop the suppression of "Hanchongryon" embracing one million students, release arrested patriotic-minded students and step down as demanded by the people. He further said: Our students should smash the repressive offensive with activated struggle, resolutely defend "Hanchongryon" and effect a new upswing in the student movement. The NDFSK calls on all the patriotic-minded people of south Korea who truly want independence, democracy and reunification to fully support and encourage the righteous, heroic activities of "Hanchongryon".

"Special Law" to stifle student movement

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The south Korean fascist clique are scheming to make a "special law" to stifle the movement of students for independence, democracy and reunification, according to a radio report from Seoul. The puppet prosecution authorities on June 10 announced that they were stepping up the institution of a "special law on dissolving criminal organisations" to stop the South Korean Federation of University Students Councils (Hanchongryon) from setting up an aligned organisation. The authorities had threatened to charge those student organisations which affiliate with "Hanchongryon" or do not pull out of "Hanchongryon" with violation of the "National Security Law". Their attempt proves how recklessly and desperately the Kim Young Sam group are trying to block the struggle of patriotic students for justice.

Kim Young Sam must be judged by history

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea made public an open questionnaire to Kim Young Sam on June 3, the Seoul-based radio voice of national salvation said. Kim Young Sam's "special statement to the people" on May 30 concerning the 1992 "Presidential Election" fund is a burlesque to avoid his responsibility as the special-class "Election" offender and a statement to deceive and threaten the people, ignoring public opinion, the questionnaire said, and noted: Kim Young Sam, who took a legal action against those involved in cases of more than ten years ago, says that he cannot clarify the truth behind the "Presidential Election" fund though relevant documents and witnesses remain. This is an intolerable challenge to and mockery of the people. Kim Young Sam must be severely punished on charges of deceiving the people and giving false testimony. The chieftain of bribery, he must confess all the irregularities he committed during his office and face trial on charges of receiving bribes. He must admit his violation of the "law on fair election and prevention of election rigging" and stand trial without delay. If he has an "important decision" to make, the decision should be to clarify the truth behind all the irregularities including the 1992 "Presidential Election" fund, step down immediately and face a stern judgment by history, as demanded by the people.

Civic organisations call for money-free politics in s. Korea

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- More than 40 civic organisations in south Korea including the Citizens' Federation for Economic Justice and the Association of Environmental Movement held a meeting in Seoul on June 10 and formed the Federation of Civic Organisations for Eliminating Plutocracy. In its inaugural declaration, the federation said that as shown by the Hanbo incident, slush funds are a factor which not only degenerates political power but also basically obstructs economic activities. It urged a radical reform of the political system. It declared that for this purpose, it would conduct an all people movement for the revision of the "political relations act" and submit a draft amendment to the law jointly to the legislative body on June 17.

Indian Party official interviewed by KCNA

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- D. Raja, member of the Central Executive Committee of the National Council of the Communist Party of India, had an interview with KCNA in New Delhi with the approach of the 33rd anniversary of Secretary Kim Jong Il's commencement of work at the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) Central Committee. He told KCNA: "Comrade Kim Jong Il enjoys high praise from the world people as a recognized leader and statesman of the world for his absolute loyalty to the revolutionary cause of the leader, his devoted service to the people and his outstanding contribution to the international working-class and communist movement." "A great fighter and revolutionary, he has turned the WPK into a militant party based on unbreakable unity and a tested party with rich experience." "The Korean-style socialism centering on the people exercises a revolutionary influence on the world under the energetic leadership of the respected comrade Kim Jong Il." "Victory of the Korean revolution is ensured reliably by the invincible revolutionary forces." "We are confident that the heroic Korean people will surely emerge victorious in the complex and arduous revolutionary struggle as they are under his seasoned leadership and closely united around their party."

Second June resistance called for

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea published a "June Letter to the People" on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the June popular resistance. The letter dated June 8 called upon the entire people to raise a storm of the second June resistance so as to overthrow Kim Young Sam, who is making last-ditch efforts, and bring about earlier the morning of independence, democracy and reunification. In four years of office Kim Young Sam has brought only reactionary and corrupt politics, fascism in society, widening gap between rich and poor, aggravation of the north-south confrontation and grave danger of war, the letter pointed out, and said: He is a peerless kingpin of theft and a-class criminal. He has been engaged only in filling his coffer With indifference to the people's miserable plight and bankrupt economy, and turned south Korea into the number one debtor in the world. It is high time that the angry people rose in a second June resistance for democracy. To overthrow the dictator Kim Young Sam in the spirit of the June resistance for democracy is the only straight way for opening a new chapter of democracy and building an independent and reunified, new country. The general task of the National Democratic Forces for the present is to struggle for the immediate resignation and unconditional ouster of Kim Young Sam. and "open to the public the 1992 'Presidential Election' fund" and "overthrow cCivilian' dictatorship" are the slogans that the people should raise in their struggle. The letter called for seeing through "Chongwadae's" appeasement and trick to bridge over crisis, having no illusion about power-hungry politicians of the ruling and opposition parties, tightening the noose of the Hanbo loan scandal and the "Presidential Election" fund around Kim Young Sam's neck and continuing the struggle until the demand for the immediate resignation of Kim is met.
