Foreigners on military parade in Korea

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- The military parade staged at Kim Il Sung Square on April 25 in the presence of Secretary Kim Jong Il is evoking great repercussions upon foreigners. Ivan Rodriguez, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Dominica, said: I saw such a military parade for the first time in my life. Through the parade, I could know well that the leader, the party and the people are united in one mind in Korea. It demonstrates the stamina, valour and might of the Korean people to smash any imperialist allied forces at one stroke. Military attache of the Cuban embassy Arnaldo Fernandez Rodriguez noted that the military parade clearly showed the absolute trust of the Korean People's Army in its Secretary Kim Jong Il. It also marked an important occasion in clearly demonstrating the might of the KPA to the enemy, he said. Military attache of the Vietnamese embassy Vu Dinh Thang had this to say: I have come to more firmly believe that the Korean People's Army guided by Secretary Kim Jong Il will always emerge victorious. He expressed the belief that the KPA would defend the banner of socialism with weapons of justice.


Floral baskets laid before Statues of President Kim Il Sung

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- Officers and men of the Korean People's Army (KPA), working people and school children and students laid floral baskets before the Statue of President Kim Il Sung on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang on April 25 on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the founding of the heroic KPA. Laid before the statue was a floral basket sent by Secretary Kim Jong Il, Supreme Commander of the KPA. Organs, organisations, working people from all walks of life and school children and students laid floral baskets, bouquets and flowers and made bows before the statue. Floral baskets, bouquets and flowers were laid before the Statues of President Kim Il Sung in different parts of the country on the same day.


KPA servicemen pay their respects to President Kim Il Sung

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- Generals and officers of three services of the Korean People's Army visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace on Friday to pay their respects to President Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the 65th founding anniversary of the heroic Korean People's Army. Among them were KPA Marshal Ri Ul Sol, KPA vice-marshals Jo Myong Rok, Kim Yong Chun, Paek Hak Rim, Kim Il Chol, Jon Jae Son, Pak Ki So and Ri Jong San, commanders of services and arms, generals and officers of the KPA. Flags of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and colours were set up and guards of honour of three services of the KPA were lining up on both sides of the Statue of President Kim Il Sung. Laid before the statue was a floral basket sent in the joint name of the WPK Central Military Commission and the DPRK National Defence Commission. KPA generals and officers gave salutations up to the Statue of President Kim Il Sung in humble reverence and went upstairs to make bows to him lying in state.


65th anniversary of KPA celebrated

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- Colourful ceremonies took place in Korea in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the heroic Korean People's Army. An evening gala of Pyongyang youth and students was held at Kim Il Sung Square on Friday evening. The platform was taken up by Ri Jong Ok, Pak Song Chol, Kim Pyong Sik, Kim Yong Nam, So Yun Sok, and other senior officials of the party, the state and the army and leading officials of working people's organizations. Reviewing stands were occupied by capital and local representatives, KPA men and officers and working people in the city. Present on invitation were delegations and delegates from different countries, diplomatic representatives in Korea and foreigners. The youth and students danced to the tune of various songs. People's delegations visited units of the KPA on the army day. Ceremonies for conveying gifts sent by Secretary Kim Jong Il, Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, were held at KPA units. Members of the delegations saw trainings of soldiers, looked round barracks and mess rooms and conversed with soldiers. Meanwhile, artistes of capital and local art troupes gave their performances at KPA units on the army day.

Floral baskets on President Kim Il Sung's birth anniversary

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, sent a floral basket to the Korean embassy in Moscow on April 15 on the occasion of the 85th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. The resident Cambodian mission in UNESCO and Quidem Co. and Sare Co. of France sent floral baskets to the Korean general mission in Paris. CPLA chief of general staff on Sino-Korean friendship

Documents on s. Korea's human rights record distributed

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- Official documents concerning the human rights record of south Korea were distributed during the discussion of human rights of all the prisoners at the 53rd meeting of the United Nations Commission on human rights. One of the documents is a decision of a working group. It says that as the arrest of Kim Sam Sok, Ki Se Mun and others on charge of the "national security law" is illegal, a step should be taken in compliance with the international declaration of human rights and articles and principle of the convention on citizens' political rights. Another document is a report submitted by the special rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman and dishonorable treatment and punishment. It says many students were arrested and brutally suppressed and persecuted during the August 15 pro-reunification festival in south Korea.


Leaflets found scattered in s. Korea

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- Some 200 copies of a leaflet introducing the "Song of General Kim Jong Il" were found scattered along railways in Jonju area on April 11, according to the Seoul-based radio voice of national salvation quoting the information of the north Jolla provincial committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK). Written on the front side of the leaflet printed in the name of the February 16 fellowship society were letters "Song of Peerless Great Man, the 'Song of General Kim Jong Il' has come into being. The nation's aspiration and the century-old desire were achieved at last". On the back side were the "Song of General Kim Jong Il" with the musical note against the Lake Chon of Mt. Paektu.


85th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung marked in s. Korea
