Letter to Secretary Kim Jong Il from Chongryon CSC
Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) - Secretary Kim Jong Il received a letter of loyalty from the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) today on the occasion of his 55th birthday.
General Kim Jong Il, who was born as the bright star of the Juche cause and humankind in the spirit of Mt. Joint national meeting of KCU orgs.
Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- A joint national meeting of the Korean Children's Union organizations took place at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on Sunday to celebrate the 55th birthday of General Kim Jong Il.
Present there were provincial delegates of the KCU, schoolchildren in Pyongyang, educational workers, officials of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, anti-Japanese revolutionary veterans, heroes, people of meritorious services, soldiers of the Korean People's Army and parents of schoolchildren.
Vice-President Pak Song Chol and Minister of the People's Armed Forces Choe Kwang, who are politburo members of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, and other senior party and state officials were also on hand.

Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- Secretary Kim Jong Il sent educational aid fund and stipends amounting to 124 million yen (in Japanese currency) to the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) for its democratic and national education.
President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il have sent educational aid fund and stipends for children of compatriots in Japan totaling 43,049,532,433 yen in 136 instalments.
The remittance of fund this time will greatly inspire the patriotic work of compatriots in Japan and contribute to the development of democratic and national education of Chongryon.

Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- An evening was sponsored at Jonsung square on February 15 by the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces on the 55th birthday of General Kim Jong Il, Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army.

First performance of Korean artistes from Japan
Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- "General Kim Jong Il is life of 700,000 Koreans in Japan", the first performance of the art troupe of Koreans in Japan, was held in Pyongyang on Feb. 15 to celebrate the 55th birthday of General Kim Jong Il.
The progamme included chorus, dance and female duet.
